How do I find an article's URL?
Answer
Don't copy and paste the URL from your browser's address bar! This is a temporary URL (known as "session-specific") that won't work if you try to use it again at another time. Instead, you'll want to find the option to get the article's permanent URL (or permalink) from the database you're using.
To find the URL of an article using our Discovery Search, use the "Tools" menu on the right side of the screen. You'll see a chainlink icon next to the word "Permalink". Clicking on this will bring up the article's permanent URL - it'll appear just above the article's title. This process works for all of our EBSCO databases.
To find the permanent URL for an article in our Credo Reference database, click the "Page Link" button in the dark blue banner at the very top right of the page.
To find the permalink of an ebook from our Ebook Central database, click the "Share Link to Book" option underneath the book's cover art on the left side of the screen.
To find the URL of an item from JSTOR or Artstor, copy the link listed under "Remote Access URL" on the left side of the screen. (The "Stable URL" option will only work on campus.)
To get the permanent URL for an item from O'Reilly for Higher Education, you'll need to do some extra legwork to create a "deep link." To do this, copy the URL from the address bar and add the prefix "https://go.oreilly.com/jackson-college" in front of it.
To get the URL from pages and articles in Opposing Viewpoints in Context, click the "Get Link" button on the right side of the page, opposite the search box.
In general, look for a chain link icon in any database to get that stable URL! If you need more specific help, you can always ask us and we'll be happy to help!
